“My experience in Thailand was absolutely incredible. It completely transformed my life and the way that I see both myself and the world. Living and working in a culture so different from my own and building relationships with people who have had extremely different life experiences than me was arguably the greatest education I have ever received. In fact, one of my favorite parts of living in Thailand was that I learned something new every single day. Whether it was a new word in the Thai language, a fact about the history of Thailand, a lesson that taught me how to be a better educator, or something personal about myself, there was always something new for me to learn. It was so much fun getting to know our students on the school field trip to Doi Inthanon! Speaking English beyond the classroom goes a long way with them. It’s so rewarding to see you students excited to learn from you and trying to better their English!
Talking to students outside of school is a cool experience because you can learn so much about them and what they like to do! The Thai teaching community is filled with such supportive and welcoming people!
Every day is a journey in Thailand and it just gets better and better. I’ve learned so much about perseverance since I started teaching. It’s a good challenge for anyone!

“I originally joined the Teach in Thailand program with the intention of only staying 6 months. That 6 months quickly changed into a year and that year became another. What was supposed to be a 6-month experience, turned into an almost 2-year adventure. No words, in any language, could accurately express how much I loved teaching in Thailand. It was the most challenging thing I have yet to do with my life, but also the most rewarding by far. It certainly had its ups and downs, but I think that is the beauty of an experience like this. It offers you an unfiltered look at not only a new culture, but also yourself. The challenges I faced in Thailand pushed me and forced me to learn more about myself than I ever thought possible. The things you learn in an experience like this are invaluable to you whether you would like to continue teaching or not.
