"My experience teaching in Thailand was hands down the best year of my life! I initially signed up to teach abroad for only one term, but ended up staying longer because I completely fell in love with the students, culture, and beauty of Thailand. Moving to Thailand was a big step out of my comfort zone, but all of the OEG staff was so welcoming and really eased my nerves upon arrival. I learned so much at orientation and ended up meeting some of my best friends along the way! I could not have done it without OEG. Living in Thailand was one of the most rewarding and amazing opportunities I have ever had. If you are even halfway considering it, I say go for it! You only regret the chances you didn’t take. I am sure you will appreciate the “mai pen rai” [don’t worry] way of living as much as I did. From the incredible food, kind people, and breathtaking scenery – it’s impossible to not fall in love with Thailand! "

At Marcellin College, I was lucky to have a helpful buddy. The teacher and students were very welcoming and the subjects were easier than in Thailand.
I never thought that everyone in the group that came together from Thailand would get close to each other this fast. Surprisingly, we got extremely close to each other on the second day. We did all the fun activities together and built a wonderful bond with each other. My favorite activity was going to Auckland Zoo and seeing different animals.

It was so much fun getting to know our students on the school field trip to Doi Inthanon! Speaking English beyond the classroom goes a long way with them. It’s so rewarding to see you students excited to learn from you and trying to better their English!
Talking to students outside of school is a cool experience because you can learn so much about them and what they like to do! The Thai teaching community is filled with such supportive and welcoming people!
Every day is a journey in Thailand and it just gets better and better. I’ve learned so much about perseverance since I started teaching. It’s a good challenge for anyone!

“Your time in Thailand you will get out what you put into it. I am thankful for my relationships with my students and they are one of the biggest things I got out of my time teaching.
My time in Thailand helped set me up for success in my current role. Living and working in a small rural part of Thailand meant I adapted to life in Asia more quickly. I became fluent in body language and hand gestures when speaking with locals. Currently I am a primary caretaker for Sun Bear cubs in Borneo. I am in an even more rural part of the world but I felt prepared coming from Phusang. My schedule and my resources have constantly fluctuated here in Indonesia but teaching in a Thai school helped me learn to embrace adaptability and flexibility. Forming relationships with my students helped me learn that bonds could be formed regardless of languages, and I have connected with many of the local staff here and we speak very little of each other’s language.”
